Lyle Dean ?Shorty? Stout, a 76-year-old resident of Princeton, died on Monday, June 7, 2004 at his home northwest of Princeton.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 11, 2004 at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Princeton. Pastors Guy Olin Thomas and Gary Watkins will officiate. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery, south of Princeton.

An open visitation will begin at 8 a.m. on Thursday, June 10, 2004 at the funeral home. A family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 o?clock on Thursday night.

Mr. Stout was born in Mercer County, near Modena, on Feb. 8 1928, the son of Roy Dee and Coy Cecil Crutcher Stout. He was raised in Mercer County and was employed by the Missouri Department of Transportation maintenance division for 40 years, retiring in 1987.

He was married on April 24, 1948 to Neva Janice Orr, who survives him of the home. The couple resided at Princeton until March 1957, when they purchased and moved to a farm northwest of Princeton.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Linda Waller and her husband Larry, of St. Joseph, and Lois Howard and her husband, Kenny, of Princeton; two sons, Kenneth Stout and his wife Brenda, and Lee Stout and his wife, Dawn, all of Princeton; one sister, Lucille Bathgate and her husband, Bob, of Richmond; 13 grandchildren, Kelly Duncan, Erica Fay, Kim Howard and Klint, Jaclyn, Kaleb, Klayton, Katherine, Ethan, Jarod, Lauren, Ean and Willie Stout; three great-grandchildren, Robbie, Zach and Rachael Kenoyer; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ralph, Tom and Evert Stout; three sisters, Helen Jane, Betty Lou and Peggy Sue Stout; and a nephew, Lyle Swigart.
