James Lyon, a 94-year-old resident of Princeton, died at 3 a.m. today (Thursday, May 27, 2004) at Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.

James Lyon, a 94-year-old resident of Princeton, died at 3 a.m. today (Thursday, May 27, 2004) at Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 29, 2004 at the Resthaven Mortuary, located north of Trenton. A visitation is planned from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Lyon was born Jan. 24, 1910 in rural Mercer County to Chester and Edith Ham Lyon. He attended school at Newtown and farmed in Mercer County most of his life. He was a member of the Newtown Christian Church.

He was married to Kathryn Miller at Trenton on March 21, 1935. She preceded him in death on Dec. 4, 2003.

Mr. Lyon is survived by two sons, James Lyon, Jr., and his wife Bronna of Newtown, and Chester Lyon of Appleton City; a sister, Veva Nell Heck of Kansas City; two grandchildren, Janessa Hodge and her husband, Chris of Raytown, and James Chester Lyon of Newtown; and three great-grandchildren, Schuyler, Jaiden and Keegan Hodge.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Maude Cochran; a daughter, Jansi Kay Lyon; and a granddaughter, Alicia Lyon.
