Robert Eugene Foster, a 67-year-old resident of Kansas City, died on Friday, May 14, 2004. He was a native of Grundy County.

Robert Eugene Foster, a 67-year-old resident of Kansas City, died on Friday, May 14, 2004. He was a native of Grundy County.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at the Mount Moriah Terrace Park Funeral Home in Kansas City. A family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at the funeral home.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the Stucker Cemetery in Laredo. General visitation is today (Monday, May 17, 2004) until 9 p.m. at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe.

Mr. Foster was born on Nov. 4, 1936 in Grundy County, the son of Max and Dorothy Foster. He grew up on a farm near Laredo and graduated in 1954 from Laredo High School. He was married on May 29, 1955 in Trenton to Donna Jean Coon, who survives of the home. They lived in Kansas City for 49 years.

Mr. Foster worked in the lithography and printing industry. He opened his first business, R&R Litho Plate, Inc., in 1958. He and his two partners merged companies in 1963 and opened Trade Litho, Inc. in North Kansas City. After selling Trade Litho, he operated Metal Graphics, Inc. from 1965 to 1972. In 1971 he became vice president of Continental Playing Card, Inc. at Parkville and began designing and building equipment for playing card manufacturing. He became a partner and vice president of manufacturing in the George C. Matteson Co., Inc. at Independence in 1973. The company later moved to Blue Springs and he remained there with Gemaco Playing Card Company until his retirement in 2000.

He was a member of the Christ Church Unity of Kansas City North and had been involved in many organizations throughout the years, including DeMolay, the Masonic Lodge, North Kansas City Jaycees, North Kansas City Breakfast Club and various aircraft groups.

He earned his private pilot?s license as a young man and owned several aircraft through the years. He also built both a gyro-copter and an experimental aircraft. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, boating and spending time at the lake. He had an interest in electronic equipment, spending many hours working with computers.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Kevin Foster and his wife, Donna, of Omaha, NE; a daughter, Sheila Rae Compton of Kansas City; one grandson, Luke Compton of Kansas City; one granddaughter, Mackenzie Foster of Omaha; one step-grandson, Kyle Weishar of Kansas City, a twin sister, Barbara Gomez of Bakersfield, CA; two brothers-in-law, Wendell Coon of Parkville and Tony Quintana of Spickard; and several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Gerald and Elsie Coon; and a sister-in-law, Thelma Quintana.
