The Grundy R-5 FFA Chapter held its annual banquet Thursday evening, with several members honored for their achievements during the year.
Among those honored were Alex Peterson, Star Farmer; Justin Lea, Star Placement; Shari May and Kabel Oaks, Star Greenhands; Jessica Smith, DeKalb Senior Award; and Johnathan Minor, American FFA Degree recipient.
Scholarship awards were presented to Shari May and Logan Jackson, freshmen; Alex Peterson, sophomore; Whitney Smith, junior; and Jessica Smith, senior.
Those earning leadership awards were Justin Lea, Amber Followwill, Whitney Smith, Corey Gott and Kabel Oaks.
Contest teams recognized were Greenhand Knowledge, Meats, Farm Management, Dairy Cow (which qualified for state, with Alex Peterson being high individual in state); and Dairy Foods (state competitors and Steven Lentz for placing 11th high individual at state).
Recordbook Awards were presented to Shari May, Justin Lea, Alex Peterson and Logan Jackson.
Gene Schreffler and Bill Anderson were presented with honorary chapter degrees.
New officers for the 2004-2005 school year are Whitney Smith, president; Steven Lentz and Alex Peterson, vice presidents; Hayley Buckner, secretary; Kabel Oaks, treasurer; Lacey Tolle and Shari May, reporters; and Nick Lentz, sentinel.
