The Area Governing Board of the Green Hills Community Action Agency met Tuesday night at the central office in Trenton.

Executive Director Don Warren recognized several board members leaving the board and presented them with awards for their service to the agency and Green Hills communities. Those recognized included Dana Henderson, Doris Parker, Frank Israel, Frank Bolin, Ken Lauhoff, Faye Crider, Dianne Florentine and Wanda Stafford. Warren noted that some of those named are moving to the alternate board positions. Newly-elected board members were seated at the beginning of Tuesday night?s board meeting.

Bud Cox, chairman of the finance committee, reported on the April 1 financial statements as reviewed by that committee. The operations reports was given by Delbert Hicks and Housing Development Director Art Heriford. Bids for building materials for construction of new homes by the GHCAA Housing Development crew and a bid received for materials and labor for construction of concrete foundations, floors, porches, patios, walks and drives for three home to be built in Hamilton were approved.

The board approved a Family Planning Program budget revision showing income of $135,000 and Missouri Family Health Council Title X funds of $185,745 for a total of $320,745. Warren noted that the revision reflects a Title X funding decrease of $42,255 from what had been approved at the April 6 board meeting.

In other business, the board approved a revised mission statement and vision statement and approved an application for the FY2005 Domestic Violence Shelter Tax Credit Program and approved an Emergency Shelter Grant proposal for client support in the areas of emergency hotel or motel stay, rent, utilities and security deposits in the amount of $25,000. The proposal was presented by Community Services Director Scott Long, who also presented information on the Community Action Poverty Simulation to be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on May 20 at the National Guard Armory in Trenton. Long said the public is invited to attend the simulation, which is designed to help people and communities understand the realities of poverty. Persons interested in attending the simulation are asked to call the CAA at 359-3907.

Heriford discussed a 2001 grant agreement between the Missouri Housing Development Commission and the GHCAA in the amount of $45,000, pursuant to the HOME Investment Partnership Act as an operating agency for a two-year period. After the presentation, the board approved the agreement

The proposed board meeting and new board member orientation workshop dates were presented by Warren and approved by members. Board President Barbara Oxendale appointed the following election committee members, which are Deborah Schnelle, chairperson; Rudy Finney, Clinton Cole, Donald Boone, Lucille Stokes and Donna Cline. The committee will present a slate of officers to be voted on at the next board meeting, which is scheduled for June 1.
