An organizational meeting and auditions for the Trenton Acting Guild production of the musical, “Hello Dolly!,” will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18 in the Hoover Theater, located on the third floor of the Grundy County-Jewett Norris Library.

Show director Vicki Wheeler said that TAG welcomes veterans as well newcomers to participate, no matter what their theatrical experience.

Leading roles are available for three men and three women. Adults are needed to play Dolly Levi, the matchmaker, and the half-millionaire, Horace Vandergelder, for whom Dolly is trying to find a wife. Either adults or younger people may play the other leading roles, which include two men employed by Horace and two women who work in a New York hat shop. Both adults and young people, at least middle school age, are needed for supporting roles and the chorus.

Copies of the script and music are available for perusal at the library. In addition to the well-known title song, the musical includes the tunes “Before the Parade Passes By” and “It Only Takes a Moment.” The play is set in 1890s Yonkers, NY.

Those who want to audition for the lead or supporting roles should come prepared to read from the script and sing a song of their choice. An accompanist and CD/tape player will be available. Those who wish to sing in the chorus will not need to audition, but should attend the organizational meeting.

The show will be produced in the Hoover Theater on Friday, June 25; Saturday, June 26; and Sunday, June 27. Tickets will go on sale June 1.

Colleen Babcock will be the musical director and Cathie Lowery will be the accompanist. TAG is seeking volunteers to oversee costumes for the production. Those interested in this position should plan to attend the meeting.
