Max R. Grant, a 69-year-old resident of Bethany, died on Thursday, April 29, 2004 at a Bethany hospital.

Max R. Grant, a 69-year-old resident of Bethany, died on Thursday, April 29, 2004 at a Bethany hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2004 at the Roberson Funeral Home in Bethany. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery at Trenton.

A family visitation is scheduled from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home, where a visitation will be held after 10 a.m.

Mr. Grant was born on Feb. 16, 1935 in Trenton, the son of Horatio Elder and Jesse Fern Atteburty Grant.

He was married in Trenton on June 7, 1959 to Janet Ross in Trenton, who survives of the home.

Mr. Grant served in the U.S. Army and received a degree in banking and finance from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville. He was in the banking business before becoming an insurance agent for Shelter Insurance in Bethany for many years. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Bethany.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Grant is survived by a daughter, Gloria Spillman and her husband, Charlie, of Bethany; a son, Brad Grant of Topeka, KS; a brother, Robert Grant of Hamilton; two sisters, Marilyn Nolan of Blue Springs, and Mary Sue Flemmer of Belton; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Doris Jean Grant.
