Rissler Elementary School will present its spring program Friday evening at the Ketcham Community Center, with the Rissler PTO holding its silent basket auction fund-raiser in conjunction with the program.

Rissler Elementary School will present its spring program Friday evening at the Ketcham Community Center, with the Rissler PTO holding its silent basket auction fund-raiser in conjunction with the program.
?Showtunes Spectacular? will be the theme of the program, which is under the direction of Lesa Allison. Students in grades kindergarten through fourth grade will perform songs from Broad-way musicals.
The public is invited to attend the free event, which begins at 7 p.m.
The silent auction will begin at 6 p.m., ending in time for the program and then re-opening for another 30 minutes following the program. Baskets, with the auction sheets, will be located in the Sugg Room at the KCC.
Classroom baskets to be auctioned include the following themes: ?Barbie?, ?Hot Wheels?, ?What?s Cookin??, ?Splish Splash, Let?s Take a Bath!?, ?How Does Your Garden Grow??, ?The Great Outdoors?, and ?It?s A Wrap.” In addition to items donated by Rissler students and parents, items have been donated by Barnes Greenhouses, Marigolds and Simple Things.
Donated baskets include the following:
Adventureland Amusement Park – four tickets to Adventureland, featuring over 100 rides, shows and attractions in Des Moines, IA. Donated by KTTN Radio.
For the Birds – a handcrafted concrete leaf bird bath and a tall, wooden bird house handcrafted and donated by Bill Ausmus.
Clifford the Big Red Dog, Live! – a minimum of two tickets to a big, oversized musical adventure of Clifford to be held Saturday, May 1 in Kansas City. Donated by the Trenton Republican-Times.
Cutting Loose! – a basket of 10 tanning sessions and beauty supplies donated by Keri Gott, owner of Cutting Loose Salon.
Exotic Animal Paradise – two passes (with each admitting two persons), to America?s largest and greatest drive-through wild animal park. Hundreds of wild and exotic animals and rare birds from around the world await for your visit at the park, located 12 miles east of Springfield. Donated by KTTN Radio.
Going to Kansas City! – A $100 gift certificate to Kansas City?s premier resort and spa, The Elms Resort and Spa. Experience the charm of a historic retreat plus the services of a contemporary hotel. Located in Excelsior Springs.
Move Over Tiger! – You will love the golf basket and learn to play like a pro with two one-half hour individual lessons donated by Ann Constant. Date and time to be determined at a later date.
Silpada Designs – a $25 gift certificate from Silpada Designs fine sterling silver jewelry. Also includes a polishing cloth and catalog. Donated by Silpada representative Becky Boehner.
Two sign-up parties will be auctioned, including ?Let?s Do Lunch,? which will include lunch for 20 persons at the Wild Onion Cafe on Saturday, June 5 from noon to 1:30 p.m. The host will be Pam Infranca with the cost $10 per person. The second sign-up party is ?Sundae on Monday,? with 20 children invited to an outdoor adventure and ice cream party at Rissler for one and one-half hours after school on Monday, May 10. The activities will be led by Rissler Principal Kathy Nolke and Guidance Counselor Dorothy Allnutt. The cost is $10 per child.
All items must be paid for the night of the event, with cash and checks accepted.
This is the fourth year that Rissler School has held a silent auction. The event is the biggest fund-raiser of the year and has helped PTO purchase books for classrooms, field trips, instructional materials, classroom supplies and several other items for Rissler students.
