Members of the Trenton High School chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America attended the 2004 Missouri FBLA Leadership Conference held April 18-20 in Columbia with one student earning a trip to the national convention in Denver, CO.

Members of the Trenton High School chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America attended the 2004 Missouri FBLA Leadership Conference held April 18-20 in Columbia with one student earning a trip to the national convention in Denver, CO.
Courtney Cox placed first in Public Speaking II. After receiving her first-place plaque, Miss Cox presented her winning speech in front of over 2,000 people. She will now compete at the National Leadership Conference July 14-17 in Denver.
Others winning recognition at the state conference were Tosha Altes, third place in Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure; Sabrina Bennett, fifth place in Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure; Amanda Gray, ninth place in Computer Applications. In addition, Megan Schmidt was recognized for Outstanding Service in a local chapter.
The Trenton chapter was recognized for its work in the following projects: environmental awareness, Camp Quality, In Praise of Age and Reach and Care.
Other delegates representing Trenton in the competitive leadership awards program were Hilary Holeman, job interview and parliamentary procedure; Stephanie Gutshall, parliamentary procedure; Sadie Jones, parliamentary procedure; Megan Wyant, parliamentary procedure; and Megan Wyant, parliamentary procedure; Elizabeth Smith, business calculations; and Brent Steven, business law. Others attending the conference were Sena Arnold, Jenna Hudson, Brittany Swank and Sheena Perry.
The students were accompanied to the event by Ginger Brickey-Jones, who serves as the local chapter adviser.
FBLA is a career and technical student organization for all high school students participating in business programs. Over 2,300 members and advisers representing 389 chapters throughout the state met at the conference, where officers were elected, state chapter business was transacted, leadership and career workshops and compete in the state leadership awards program.
