Four Trenton High School juniors took part in the Trenton Rotary Club 4-Way Test during the club meeting on Thursday. Steve Maxey was the program chairman.

Four Trenton High School juniors took part in the Trenton Rotary Club 4-Way Test during the club meeting on Thursday. Steve Maxey was the program chairman.

Teresa Applebury was named the local winner and will represent the local club at a pre-district competition April 3 at Chillicothe. The top three from that event will advance to the district contest on April 24. She received $125 for winning the local contest.

Finishing second and receiving $75 was Thad Danner while Myles Berry received $50 for finishing third. Jenny Brill also took part in the speech contest.

Speeches were written by the students and based on the prinicples of the Rotary?s ?4-Way Test.?

During the business meeting, Membership Development Chairman Matt Krohn updated the club on membership and encouraged the recruitment of new members. Kerry Sampson presented information on the Grundy County Living History Festival, scheduled for April 16-18 at Trenton, and asked for volunteers to assist with various activities. Individuals or groups wanting to volunteer can contact Rosetta Marsh at city hall.

It was also announced the fifth and sixth grade basketball tournament held last week will net around $1,300. The tournament was sponsored by the Rotary, Kiwanis and Lions clubs.
