Students from Rissler Elemen-tary School and Trenton Middle School attended the Children?s Literature Festival on Tuesday on the campus of Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg.

Students from Rissler Elemen-tary School and Trenton Middle School attended the Children?s Literature Festival on Tuesday on the campus of Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg.
The students, who had earned the trip by meeting certain reading requirements this year, had the opportunity to attend five one-hour sessions with authors and illustrators of children?s books during which time they learned how the authors choose their topics, how they research their story ideas and what the writing and publishing process entails. In addition, the authors shared information about themselves and how they became interested in writing as a profession. The students were allowed to ask questions and receive autographs of the authors.
Students attending the event from Rissler Elementary School were fourth graders Haley Creason, Brittany Demisch, Kelsey Donohue, Hunter Hanes, Stacey Ireland, Chris Johnson, Hailey Johnson, Kaylee Lickteig, Mackenzie Mack, Chanel Pash and Alexis Whitney. Susan Ward is the librarian at Rissler School.

In addition to Mrs. Peterson and Mrs. Ward, several parents accompanied the students on the trip.
