Oren Bailey DeVaul, a 78-year-old resident of Darrington, WA, died on Sunday, March 14, 2004 at his home.

At Mr. DeVaul’s request, there will be no memorial service.

Mr. DeVaul was born on Oct. 21, 1925 in Trenton, the son of Dale Dean and Elva Mae DeVaul. He was raised in the Trenton and Gallatin areas before leaving for Kansas City as a young man.

He served in the Pacific with the U.S. Navy during World War II, working as a lithographer aboard a ship. He eventually settled in the Pacific Northwest, where he spent the majority of his life. He worked as a lithographer for over 30 years in the Seattle area and was an avid hunter, fisherman and a horseman. He was a lifetime member of the Trail Dusters horse club and the Back Country Horseman of Washington.

Mr. DeVaul is survived by three children, Janet Tipton of Maryland, Judy DeVaul of Granite Falls, WA and Bill DeVaul of Buckley, WA; two sisters, Barbara Welch and Anna Gray of Missouri; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a long-time best friend, Don Lowrey of Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Margaret, Marie and Dorothy.

The family suggests memorials to Equifriends of Washington.
