Nelda “Jane” England Law, a 73-year-old resident of Trenton, died on Monday, March 15, 2004 at Saint Francis Hospital in Topeka, KS. She was a former Topeka resident.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 18, 2004 at the Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery, north of Milan.
A visitation is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17, 2004 at the funeral home.
Mrs.Law was born Oct. 30, 1930 in Sullivan County, the daughter of Otis and Ethel Young England. She was raised in the Pollock area and attended Turner School. She graduated from Milan High School in 1948. She spent most of her younger years in rural Sullivan County until she met her husband, Melvin Law Jr., to whom she was married on May 24, 1948. He preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 1991. The couple later moved to Topeka, KS. Mrs. Law graduated from Kaw Area Vocational School as a licensed practical nurse and worked at Indian Trails Mental Health Center as health services supervisor until her retirement in December 1993. After her retirement, she moved to Trenton. She was a member of the Sullivan County Country Club.
Mrs. Law is survived by her companion, Duane “Coffee” Maxwell; one daughter, Peggy Carol Frye and her husband, Bill, of Topeka; two grandchildren, Timothy Alan Frye of Escondido, CA and Kimberly Carol Frye of Merriam, KS; an aunt, Eva Smith of Liberty; and a cousin and her son, Carol McKee and Mike McKee.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and an aunt, Lema England.
