Genevieve Black, an 87-year-old resident of Jamesport, died on Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 5, 2004 at the Jamesport Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery at Jamesport.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. General visitation is now under way at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Jamesport.

Mrs. Black was born July 9, 1916 in Pleasanton, KS, the daughter of Fred DeWitt and Edith Chinnock Wild. She graduated in 1934 from Pleasanton High School. She was married in Pleasanton on Feb. 14, 1937 to D. Black, who preceded her in death in 1965. The couple moved to Jamesport and lived on the family farm until her husband?s death. She then moved to town, where she lived for 35 years.

Mrs. Black was a member of the Jamesport United Methodist Church. She enjoyed taking care of her family and grandchildren.

Mrs. Black is survived by one son, Tony Black of Neosho; one daughter, Gene Alexander of Jamesport; two grandchildren, Debbie Dinsmore of Princeton and David Black of Jamesport; a daughter-in-law, Betty Black of Jamesport; and two grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Freddie and Elwood Black; a great-granddaughter, Shawna Marie Black; two brothers, Francis and Wilford Wild; and two sisters, Gwen Wuttke and Nathalie Penson.

Memorial contriibutions are suggested to the Jamesport United Methodist Church.
