The Trenton Youth Coalition has announced plans to open its youth center in the Trenton AMS building on Tuesday, Feb. 3.

According to Mark Newton, who is serving as chairman of the Trenton Youth Coalition Committee, the center will be located in the gymnasium area and is open to youth ages 12 to 15, although children under the age of 12 will be allowed as long as they are accompanied by an adult. Several activities will be offered, including video games, pool, basketball, volleyball, ping pong, a juke box, a television room and a commissary area for snacks. A computer room is also planned for future use.

Hours for the center will be from 3 to 6 or 7 p.m. (depending on the number of children there) on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; 3 to 10 p.m. on Friday; 1 to 10 p.m. on Saturday; and 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday. There will be a $1 charge for admission, although it is hoped admission can be free at some point. There will be no admission charged on Feb. 3.

Newton said the center will be supervised by adult volunteers and anyone who would like to serve as a volunteer can contact him.
