Funeral services for Betty Clem will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, 2004 at the Payne Funeral Home in Galt. Dr. Joe Humphreys will officiate. Burial will be in the Harris Cemetery at Harris.

Funeral services for Betty Clem will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, 2004 at the Payne Funeral Home in Galt. Dr. Joe Humphreys will officiate. Burial will be in the Harris Cemetery at Harris.
There is no scheduled family visitation planned at the funeral home.
Mrs. Clem, a 67-year-old resident of Harris, died at 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at her home, south of Harris.
Mrs. Clem was born on Aug. 24, 1936 at Chillicothe, the daughter of Victor and Mabel Marie Humphreys Batson. She lived in Chillicothe until her family moved to Sunflower, KS. She graduated from Sunflower High School, then moved to the Kansas City area.
She was married on June 18, 1966 at Chillicothe to Veldon Clem, who survives of the home. They had resided at Harris all their married lives.
Mrs. Clem was a member of the Harris Christian Church and the Eastern Star, was active in the Harris 4-H and was a member of the Harris Extension Club.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Candy Vasey of Galt and Edith, now Mr. Darien Gibson of Blue Springs; three step-daughters, Rebecca, now Mrs. Bob Pfieffer and Cynthia, now Mrs. Carl Tipton, both of Milan, MO and Linda, now Mrs. J.L. Glidewell of Milan, IL; a brother, Robert Batson of Belton; a sister, Margaret Jaynes of Kansas City; seven grandchildren, Brittney, Jill, Dakota and Shania Gibson of Blue Springs, Joshua Smith of Harris, Faith Chaney of Galt and Travis Vasey of Galt; six step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father; two brothers; one brother-in-law; and one sister-in-law.
The family suggests memorials be left to Veldon Clem.
