The Trenton High School boys and girls split a pair of games at Macon on Monday night.

The Lady Bull-dogs scored 43 points in the second and third quarters on their way to a 66-51 win. The THS boys lost to the Tigers, 80-41.

THS Girls

The THS girls were a little sluggish in the opening quarter as the Lady Tigers led at the end of the first period, 19-13. Trenton responded by outscoring Macon in the second period, 22-16, as Sheena Perry came off the bench to spark THS with four three-pointers. The two teams went into halftime tied at 35-35.

?Our legs were a little tired, coming off a Saturday night game,? Head Coach Kris Ockenfels said. ?After a slow start, we really played well in the second and third quarters.?

The Lady Bulldogs dominated Macon in the third quarter, outscoring the Lady Tigers, 21-6. The two teams played even in the fourth quarter, 10-10.

Perry led the Lady Bulldogs with 19 points. Christina Woodard had three three-pointers and 18 points.

?Sheena was our spark in the first half as she hit four three-pointers in a five-minute span,? Ockenfels said. ?Christina hit a big three at the end of the first half to tie it at 35.?

The Lady Bulldogs improve to 10-3 overall.

THS Boys

The THS boys got off to a good start, but faulted as the game went on. Trenton held an early lead but struggled toward the end of the first quarter.

?We have been talking a lot about getting off to a good start and were able to do that, but we began to struggle at the end of the first quarter,? Head Coach Quentin Albrecht said. ?In the second quarter we were terrible from the free throw line, hitting only one-of-eight.?

Macon took a 41-26 lead into halftime and then blew the game open in the second half. The Bulldogs managed only 15 points in the final two quarters.

?The wheels really came off in the second half. Macon put together a run and we began to panic and it snowballed from there,? Albrecht said. ?We have to find someone out on the floor that can calm us down when things start to go bad.?

Myles Berry led Trenton with 12 points. John Hart chipped in with eight points.

Gerritt Oliver led Macon with 18 points and Alex Vandelf added 16 points.

The THS teams will play Marceline on Friday in the Ketcham Community Center. The girls game is at 6 p.m. with the boys game to follow.
