The Spickard Board of Aldermen met Tuesday night, appointing a councilman and approving the city’s contract for road maintenance.

City Clerk DeAnn Olson said Jim Standiford was appointed to fill the unexpired of Toni Wilson, who had earlier resigned. Standiford will serve until the April 6 election. Mrs. Olson said no one has filed for any of the positions to be filled. The two-year terms of Harry Brown in the north ward and J.R. Roberts in the south ward expire as well as the unexpired term. A three-year term for the special road district is to also be filled. Rick Crawford currently holds that position. Persons can file for the election at city hall until Jan. 20.

The aldermen approved continuation of a one-year agreement with the special road district to maintain the city’s roads. As part of the agreement, the city will give the road district 40 percent of the road tax funds it receives from the state as well as share in the cost of equipment, including the replacement and repair. The aldermen also voted to retain John Young as the city attorney.

The next meeting of the Spickard aldermen will be Feb. 3.
