Bess Mae Moore, an 88-year-old resident of Gladstone, died on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003 at the Woodbine Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Gladstone. She was a former resident of Princeton.

Bess Mae Moore, an 88-year-old resident of Gladstone, died on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003 at the Woodbine Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Gladstone. She was a former resident of Princeton.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. today (Monday, Dec. 15, 2003) at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel at Princeton. Rev. Harry Clifton officiated. Burial was in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, northwest of Trenton.

Mrs. Moore was born in Mercer county on Oct. 29, 1915, the daughter of Don and Clara Mulvania George. She was raised in Mercer County and was a graduate of Princeton High School. she owned and operated Bess? Beauty Shop from 1958 until her retirement in 1987. She was an active member of the Princeton First Baptist Church. She moved to the Kansas City area in 1994 to be closer to her daughter, Carolyn, and her family.

Mrs. Moore wa married on Aug. 24, 1924 to Johnnie B. Moore, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters, Jane Allen and her husband, David, of Granville, OH and Carolyn Vandel and her husband, Max, of Kansas City; one brother, Don ?Chuck? George and his wife, Sally, of Princeton; five grandchildren; John, Jim and Jeff Vandel, Staci Lewis and Doug Allen; eight great-grandchildren, emily, Olivia, Mattie, Jonah and Cole Vandel, Christopher and Emily Lewis and Megan Allen; and by several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, William, Forrest, Woodrow and Dale George; and four sisters, Annie Blakesley, Ferril Bein, Ruth Strandt and Grace Dikes.
