Buford O. Shipps, a 95-year-old resident of Spickard, died on Tuesday morning, Dec. 9, 2003 at Eastview Manor Care Center in Trenton.

Buford O. Shipps, a 95-year-old resident of Spickard, died on Tuesday morning, Dec. 9, 2003 at Eastview Manor Care Center in Trenton.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 12, 2003 at the Wise and Slater Funeral Chapel at Spickard. Rev. Hugh G. Watkins will officiate. Burial will be in the Spickard Masonic Cemetery.
A family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003 at the funeral chapel.
Mr. Shipps was born March 17, 1908 in Spickard, the son of Erastus Fulton and Carrie Morrison Shipps. He attended Spickard schools. He was a life-long resident of Spickard and worked for Franklin Township as road maintenance man. He also was a farm hand.
He was married on Feb. 4, 1941 at Trenton to Hazel Frances Spickard, who preceded him in death on Feb. 18, 1962.
Survivors include three daughters, Ruth Ann Shipps of Spickard, Rosa Hobbs and her husband, Randall, of Spickard and Mary Gibson and her husband, Terry, of Spickard; one sister, Neville Young of Spickard; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Larry Shipps; one granddaughter, Teresa Gibson; two sisters, Nell Moore and Fern Shipps; and three brother, Glen Shipps, Burl Shipps and Frank Shipps.
