Services for Tom Sharp will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in Trenton. Rev. Jean Osborn will officiate, assisted by Mr. Sharp?s brother-in-law, the Rev. Calvin Wylde. Burial will be in the Edinburg IOOF Cemetery, west of Trenton.

A family visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Sharp, an 89-year-old resident of Shirkey Leisure Acres in Richmond, died early Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003 at the retirement home. He was a former Trenton resident.
Mr. Sharp was born on Nov. 1, 1914 near Trenton, the son of George Lee and Mary Catherine Strow Sharp. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from Edinburg High School. He worked in the CC camps and after his marriage lived on farms in the Hickory and Jamesport communities, where he and his wife farmed. He was also employed as a rural mail carrier for many years. Following his retirement, he and his wife moved to trenton to make their home. He delivered Meals on Wheels for many years while in Trenton. Due to ill health, he and his wife moved to Lawson two years ago to be near their son, then moved to the retirement center a year ago.
Mr. Sharp was a member of the First Baptist Church in Trenton, where he served many years as a deacon.
He was married on Nov. 23, 1938 in Trenton to Oleta May Wylde, who survives of Shirkey Leisure Acres,
He is also survived by two sons, Robert J. Sharp and his wife, Ardi, of Lawson and Thomas R. Sharp and his wife, Kay, of Richmond; seven grandchildren, David Sharp of Kansas City, Cheryl Sharp Campanini of Camdenton, Melissa Sharp Porth of Lawson, Scott Sharp of Overland Park, KS, Fred Wilson of Pocasset, MA, Chris Wilson of Kansas City and Cherance Wilson Hudson of Winston; 15 great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Sharp of Modesto, CA and Melvina Sharp of Trenton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Susan Ward; and 11 brothers and sisters.
The family suggest memorial contributions to the Edinburg IOOF Cemetery. They can be left at or mailed to the Resthaven Mortuary, Box 587, Trenton, MO 64683.
