Miss Trenton Pageant Moved To Fall
Because of scheduling conflicts involving contestants, the 2004 Miss Trenton and Miss Green Hills Area scholarship pageants have been postponed until the fall.
The pageants were previously scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004 in Trenton.
Executive Director Greg Dalrymple said that the Christmas and New Year’s holidays were a contributing factor in several potential contestants choosing not to participate in this year’s pageant. As a result, contestant numbers would be down and pageant officials felt it would be better to postpone this year’s event until the fall, when schedules are more flexible.
“The Miss Trenton and Miss Green Hills board has always prided itself on presenting a quality pageant for the community and we felt that because of the conflicts we were running into that it would be better to postpone the event at this time,” Dalrymple said.
Dalrymple went on to say that the board is committed to having the local Miss America Preliminary in the fall and believes that by postponing the event it will allow for an even grander and more entertaining program for the community.
“There will be a Miss Trenton and Miss Green Hills Pageant in the fall,” Dalrymple said. “We are committed to continuing the pageant tradition that the community has supported for the past 33 years and are looking forward to that continued support move forward with our plans.”
Scholarship contributions already received for this year’s pageant will be placed in a special fund and carried over so that they can be awarded when the pageant is held next fall.
By not having a pageant in January, Trenton will not have a representative at the Miss Missouri Pageant this summer in Mexico. The current Miss Trenton, Bobbie Bagby, and the current Miss Green Hills, Lauren Burton, will continue to represent the community as those titleholders until the fall pageant.
