Vesta Colean Ballew, an 88-year-old resident of Princeton, died on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003 at North Kansas City Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003 at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Princeton. Pastor Guy Olin Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in the Hamilton Cemetery, west of Modena.
An open visitation is under way at the funeral home. There is no scheduled family visitation.
Mrs. Ballew was born on Aug. 4, 1915 near Spickard, the daughter of Mason and Nora Power Hamilton. She was a homemaker and mother, living in several places before returning to Missouri in 1970. She had resided in Mercer County the past 20 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ and was baptized at the Wilds Community Church.
She was married on Dec. 25, 1933 to Winton Olin Ballew, who preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 2001.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Jo Delameter and her husband, Derald, of Princeton and Connie Sue Carver of Holt?s Summit; four grandchildren, Dewayne Carver of Holt?s Summit, Debbie Rodriquez of Port Hueneme, CA, Olin Delameter and his wife, Linda, of Princeton, and Peggy Constable and her husband, Tom, of Spickard; four great-grandchildren, Stephen and Vesta Rodriquez, Melinda Delameter and Taylor Constable; three sisters-in-Law, Margaret Smith of Longview, TX, Bobbie Cummins of Bethany and Virginia Moore of the state of Texas; two brothers-in-law, Bud Ballew of Ft. Morgan, CO and Shirley Ballew of Warrensburg; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, William Olin Ballew; an infant daughter, Peggy Flo Ballew; an infant granddaughter, Angel Carver; a great-grandson, Nathan Derald Delameter; three sisters, Ethel May Clark, Essie Hann and Alma Davis; and three brothers, Joe, Burl and Delbert Hamilton.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Hamilton Cemetery. They may be left at or mailed to the funeral home at PO Box 316, Princeton, Mo 64673.
