A large crowd lined the streets of Trenton to view the annual Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade, held Friday night.

A large crowd lined the streets of Trenton to view the annual Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade, held Friday night.
“Hometown Christmas” was the theme of the parade, sponsored by the chamber and the Trenton Ambassadors.
The best business float went to an entry from Trenton AMS. The Red Hat Mammas and Young Red Hatters tied for the best group float. The best youth entry went to the Trenton R-9 Band. The best overall float award was won by the Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce. Sponsoring the awards for the parade were Citizens Bank and Trust, US Bank, Farmers State Bank and the chamber.
Following the parade, a program was held in the area of the Grundy County Museum. Santa Claus held court in the Baker School, visiting with children and making a list of their Christmas wishes. Entertainment was provided by the THS Choir, Lisa Huffstutter and her daughter, Lauren, Duane Simmons, Rita Hanes and the Maxwell Family.
Over 400 persons toured the Grundy County Museum on Friday night and Saturday afternoon, viewing Christmas trees that were decorated by local and area organizations, businesses and individuals.
The most original tree was decorated in costume jewelry by the Heritage Club. The Grundy County Genealogical Society had the best theme-related tree, which contained family portraits. The best old-fashioned tree was decorated by Pi Master chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. The most rustic tree belonged to the Trenton Master Gardeners and the most elegant tree belonged to Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home.
