Max E. “Mackie” Hamby, a 60-year-old resident of Grain Valley. died on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003 at his home. He was a former Brimson resident.

Max E. “Mackie” Hamby, a 60-year-old resident of Grain Valley. died on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003 at his home. He was a former Brimson resident.

Funeral services will be held at p.m. pm Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003 at Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton. Burial will be in the Willis Chapel Cemetery, north of Brimson.

A family visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Hamby was born April 29, 1943 at Trenton, the son of Ralph and Marjorie Gibler Hamby. He was raised at Brimson and attended Brimson and Gilman City schools. After school, he was employed by Jackson Brothers Oil Company before moving to Kansas City, where he was employed at the Ford plant. He returned to the Brimson area, where he farmed from 1967 until he moved to Grain Valley in 1988. He had been employed at the Colonial Nursery in Blue Springs for the past 15 years.

Mr. Hamby is survived by his father, Ralph Hamby, of the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton; a sister, Doris Jean Stratton of Liberty; a nephew, Stacey Stratton and his wife, Gini, of Liberty; one niece, Pamela Robertson of Liberty; one great-nephew; four great-nieces; and four great-great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

The family has suggested that memorial contributions can be left to the Willis Chapel Cemetery. These can be left at or mailed to the mortuary.
