Franceil Willis “Fran” Schooler, a 94-year-old resident of Raymore, died on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003 at the Foxwood Springs Living Center in Raymore.

Franceil Willis “Fran” Schooler, a 94-year-old resident of Raymore, died on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003 at the Foxwood Springs Living Center in Raymore.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, 2003 at the Princeton Cemetery. Pastor Guy Olin Thomas will officiate under the direction of the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Service of Princeton.

Open visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Schooler was born on Dec. 7, 1908 in Shawnee, OK, the daughter of John Daniel and Lillie Piece Willis. She was raised in Spickard and taught school in the Star rural school in Mercer County and the Big Oak and Newton rural schools in Grundy County before beginning her higher education. She received a bachelor’s degree in English from William Jewell College in Liberty in 1935 and a master’s degree in English from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1937. She began employment with the US. Government in Civil Service as a personnel clerk in 1938, working for the government for 30 years in Washington D.C., Tampa, FL and Jacksonville, FL. She also helped her husband in the Schooler Engineering company, which designed and manufactured racing equipment for boats, automobiles and motorcycles.

She was married in January 1940 to John Clayton Schooler, who preceded her in death on June 1, 1970.

She lived most of her life in Jacksonville and was a member of the Riverside Baptist Church. She later became a member of the Raymore Baptist Church.

Mrs. Schooler is survived by one niece, Jean Kincade and her husband, Don, of Lee’s Summit; one nephew, Noel Willis and his wife, Gayle of Wichita, KS; and other relatives.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Willis Jr.; and a half-sister, Eulalia Sample.
