Duane “Dug” Dungan, a 75-year-old resident of Clio, IA, died on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003 at his home in Clio.
His body was cremated under the direction of the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Service in Lineville, IA. A memorial service is planned later.
Mr. Dungan was born on Dec. 4, 1928 in Logan, IA, the son of Abraham Marshall and Mildred Lorena Thomas Dungan. He was raised in Logan, where he graduated from high school. After high school he worked as a theater projectionist in Fonda, IA for a few months before joining the U.S. Army in June 1948. He served in the Army until March 1955 and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. After his discharge, he was employed as an electrical engineer in California for several years. He moved back to Iowa 1978 and moved to Wayne County in 1980, where he worked at the Volt Master Plant in Corydon until his retirement in 1993. He moved from Corydon to Clio in the later part of 1980 and he served on the Clio City Council.
He was married in Englewood, CA on Feb. 3, 1956 to Margaret Mary “Peg” Detlor, who survives of the home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Mildred Dungan of Logan; three sons, Alan Dungan and his wife, Bonnie, of England, Scott Dungan and his wife, Debbie of Tacoma, WA and Paul Dungan of Bellingham, WA; two sisters, Doris Sorick and her husband, Jerry, of Logan, and Carol Daigh of Chattanooga, TN; one brother, Max Dungan of Missouri Valley, IA; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, John Dungan.
