Johnathan Minor, a recent graduate of Grundy R-5 High School and FFA chapter, will receive the American FFA Degree on Saturday in Louisville, KY. The American degree is the highest degree in the FFA organization, with less than 1 percent of any given year?s membership receiving the degree this year.

Johnathan Minor, a recent graduate of Grundy R-5 High School and FFA chapter, will receive the American FFA Degree on Saturday in Louisville, KY. The American degree is the highest degree in the FFA organization, with less than 1 percent of any given year?s membership receiving the degree this year.
In addition to the American degree, Minor has received many other awards and offices as an FFA member. He has competed with four proficiency awards on the state level, including Wildlife Management Placement, Fruit and Vegetable Production, Specialty Crop Production and Horticulture Production. By winning first in state for Fruit and Vegetable Production and Horticulture, Johnathan competed on the national level, winning a silver award for each. Minor has taken many garden and woodworking items to the State Fair and won reserve grand champion for his tomatoes and shop projects. Minor?s Supervised Agriculture Experience project consisted of four acres of pumpkins and tomatoes, the construction of a greenhouse and selling of bedding plants.
On the local level, Minor was named Star Greenhand as a freshman, Star Chapter Agri-Businessman during his junior year and Dekalb Award winner for outstanding senior. He served as both the chapter sentinel and reporter, as well as serving as Area II parliamentarian during his senior year.
Minor is presently attending North Central Missouri College, majoring in agriculture. He is the son of Kathy Southers and the late John Minor and the grandson of Gene and Ann Schreffler of Galt.
