RPC Receives Honor
The Green Hills Regional Planning Commission, based at Trenton, was among five organizations receiving the Achievement of Excellence Award today during the Workforce Development Conference at the Lake of the Ozarks.
Gov. Bob Holden presented the award to the RPC in recognition of their work in creating a bilingual Rapid Response program for Hispanic workers affected by layoffs at the ConAgra Foods plant at Milan in 2002. The commission coordinated the Rapid Response efforts and used Trenton resident Amy Whitaker as an interpreter to assist with the program. The RPC award was presented in the customer focus and satisfaction category.
Also honored were the Workforce Development Board of Western Missouri at Sedalia in the leadership category, the Northwest Regional Council of Governments at Maryville in the innovation category, the Full Employment Council-Youth Opportunities Program in Kansas City in the collaboration/integration of services category and St. John?s Health System at Springfield in the private sector participation category.
