M.R. ?Bob? Waits, a 79-year-old resident of Laredo, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003 at his home in Laredo.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003 at the Laredo Baptist Church in Laredo. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.
A family visitation will be held from 6 to 9 tonight (Monday, Oct. 6, 2003) at the Lindley Funeral Home in Laredo.
Mr. Waits was born July 17, 1924 in Triplett, the son of Lemuel and Mattie Powell Waits. He was a 1942 graduate of Meadville High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945 and was stationed in New Kalidonia. He farmed in the Livingston and Grundy County areas until 1960, then started hauling rock and lime. He was a member of the Laredo Baptist Church.
Mr. Waits was married on July 18, 1944 at Miami, OK to Vera Marie Daniels, who preceded him in death in September 1993.
Mr. Waits is survived by one son, William Lee Waits and his wife, Kathy, of Laredo; a brother, Charles Waits and his wife, Peggy, of Trenton; two grandchildren, Robbie Waits and his wife Angela, and Kristi Waits and her friend, Kenny; three step-grandchildren; Denise Hamilton and her husband, Junior, Tammy Miller and her husband, Bill, and Brian Johnson and his wife, Brianne; five great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren;; and his best friend, Barbara Lovell.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Waits was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Alvin Waits and Jim Waits; and one infant great-grandchild, Rayanne Marie Waits.
