Donald Wayne Preston, a 67-year-old resident of Houston, TX, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003 at the Vosswood Nursing Center in Houston.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003 at the Ravanna Cemetery under the direction of the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Service of Princeton. Pastor Guy Olin Thomas will officiate.
Mr. Preston was born March 1, 1936 in Chillicothe, the son of Walter E. and Opal B. Wells Preston. His mother was a former resident of Mercer. Mr. Preston attended Dewey Grade School in Chillicothe and moved with his family to Kansas City in 1946, where he was a 1953 graduate of North Kansas City High School He received a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Tulsa in 1961. He served in the Missouri National Guard during the Korean War and was a member of the Zeta Chapter, Theta Tau Professional Engineering Fratern-ity. He was employed as a mechanical engineer and manager for over 40 years in the oil and gas pipeline industry for Great Lakes Pipe Line Co. of Kansas City and Crest Engineering Co. of Tulsa, OK. He was also vice president of international development for Universal ENSCO, Inc. of Houston, TX.
Mr. Preston is survived by his former wife, Beverly Palmer of St. Louis; a daughter, Karen Baca of Albuquerque, NM; two grandchildren, Shannon and Brandon Baca of Albuquerque; two brothers, Lee E. Preston and his wife, Shirley of Sacramento, CA, and Ralph E. Preston and his wife, Joyce, of Kansas City; and by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
