The Trenton Acting Guild has announced the cast for ?One Foot in Heaven,? the family comedy that will be presented on Nov. 21, 22 and 23 as part of the Grundy County Friends of the Arts season.

Tom Powell will play the Rev. Will Spence, who with his wife, Hope, played by Margaret Chapman, comes to Iowa in 1910 to serve a small town church. Their teenaged children will be played by John Sampson and Sarah Pauley. All are from Trenton.

The Spences are assisted by a local doctor, played by Gary Peterson. Opposition comes from a wealthy and haughty parishioner and her cohort, and elderly deacon. They will be played by Susan Provance and Brian Thompson. Other church members include three nosy ladies, played by Leanna Wilcox, Linda Dannull and Monica Nichols. All are from Trenton.

Eventually, the issue has to be settled by a church bishop played by Gary Ponder Williams of Princeton.

The youngest Spences make friends in the new community. Among them are a girl who wants to be president, played by Amber Carpenter of Trenton, and her brother, who will be portrayed by Andrew Ponder Williams of Princeton. Other young friends include Louise, played by Megan Ingersoll of Unionville; Maria, played by Emily Anderson of Trenton; and Letty, played by Sabrina White of Trenton.

The story is narrated by another Spence son, Fraser, who will be played by Brody Meinke of Princeton.

Among the artistic and technical staff for the show are Eric Lorenz and Del Smith of Trenton, who will oversee the lighting. Leta Wheeler will coordinate props and Dr. Vicki Wheeler will direct. Members of an NCMC theatre class will help out backstage.

The show will be presented at the Hoover Theatre in the Grundy County Library.
