Beverly Beneke, a 78-year-old resident of the Sunnyview Apartments at Trenton, died at 8:40 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003 at the apartments, where she had resided since May 2003.

Beverly Beneke, a 78-year-old resident of the Sunnyview Apartments at Trenton, died at 8:40 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003 at the apartments, where she had resided since May 2003.

The body was cremated. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, 2003 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Trenton. Rev. Paul Knittle will officiate. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.

A family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003 at the Resthaven Mortuary.

Mrs. Beneke was born on June 1, 1925 at Black River Falls, WI, the daughter of Edward and Veda Miles Vandermate. She was married on Feb. 25, 1949 in Albert Lea, MN to William “Bill” Beneke, who preceded her in death on Aug. 17, 1997. They lived in North Dakota, Montana and California before moving to Trenton in 1970.

Mrs. Beneke was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Trenton, the LWML Ladies Aid and the Major Dale Stepp American Legion Post No. 31 Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by two daughters, Laura Browning and her husband, Lester, and Sue Griffin and her husband, Frank, all of Trenton; five sons, Steve Beneke and his wife, Ally, of Las Vegas, NV, Randy Beneke of Alburn, CA, Kenneth Beneke and his wife, Sue, of San Jose, CA, Kim Beneke and his wife, Donna, of Louisville, KY and Eldred Beneke and his wife, Delinda, of Sedalia; one brother, George Vandermate of San Jose; one sister, Twylla Manges of St. Paul, MN; eight grandchildren, Sandy, Dawn, Billy Charles, Amos, Robert, Jimmy and Daniel; and three great-grandchildren, Michael, Natosha and Casi Rose.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Whitaker.

The family has suggested memorial contributions be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church or the Trenton Quarterback Club. These may be left at the mortuary.
