The Lady Bulldogs were led by seniors Abby Lovell and Christina Woodard, who teamed up to take first in doubles.

?The girls did a fantastic job against a strong field of quality high school tennis teams,? Head Coach Mike Bosley said. ?Abby and Chris led the team effort with the doubles championship. They were in charge most of the time.?

The duo opened by beating Amber Lager and Karissa Euler of Maryville, 8-0, then defeated Ashleigh Cox and Jinni Marker of Excelsior Springs, 8-3. Lovell-Woodard defeated Natasha Butler and Jennifer Nelson of Warrensburg in the semifinals, 8-6. They then knocked off Lauren Grandestaff and Megan Curtis of Higginsville in the finals, 8-3.

THS senior Kaycee Lee Blattner also had a strong showing on Wednesday. Blattner won her opening match over Mallory Rankin of Higginsville, 8-2. Blattner lost to Susan Ma of Park Hill South in the quarterfinals, 8-0. Blattner recovered, however, and went on to win three more matches and take the consolation championship. Ma went on to take the singles title.

Blattner beat Susan Eberly of Cameron in her next match, 9-8 (7-3). She beat Afrin

Kanal of Warrrensburg in the consolation semifinal, 8-2, then defeated Sara Branson of Higginsville, 9-8 (9-7).

?Kaycee Lee battled through the consolation side to take fifth place,? Bosley said. ?She was stopped by the singles champ on the winner’s side of the draw. She played her best tennis of a young season.?
