Orvall C. Shipp, an 83-year-old resident of Chillicothe, died at KU Medical Center on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003 at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Burial will be in the Avalon Cemetery at Avalon.

A family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 o?clock tonight (Monday, Sept. 8, 2003) at the funeral home. General visitation is under way until 9 o?clock tonight.

Mr. Shipp was born on June 3, 1920 at Avalon, the son of Charles Field and Mae Kerr Shipp. He lived in Livingston County his whole life, where he was a construction worker for Livingston County as its bridge crew foreman. He was a former member of the Methodist church at Avalon. He also served in the U.S. Army from February 1945 to December 1946 and during that time was a ?T? sergeant.

He was married on June 30, 1962 at Harris to Connie Baugher, who survives of the home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Lois Koehly of Chillicothe; a sister-in-law, Dorthea Shipp of Chillicothe; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and several great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Chester Shipp and Walter ?Buck? Shipp; a sister, Dorothy Lisenby; and two brothers-in-law, Kelly Maberry and Bill Koehly.
