Guy Henry Marrs, an 85-year-old resident of Trenton, died Friday evening, Sept. 5, 2003 at Eastview Manor Care Center in Trenton.

Guy Henry Marrs, an 85-year-old resident of Trenton, died Friday evening, Sept. 5, 2003 at Eastview Manor Care Center in Trenton.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003 at the Slater Funeral Home in Trenton. Revs. Kevin Smith and Dan Moore will officiate. Burial will be in the Hill Cemetery, south of Gilman City, following military graveside services by the Joseph L. Norton VFW Post No. 919 of Trenton.

A family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 o?clock tonight (Monday, Sept. 8, 2003) at the funeral home.

Mr. Marrs was born on Oct 14, 1917 in Edinburg, the son of Clarence Vernon and Martha Bessie Dawson Marrs. He attended Trenton schools. He was a resident of Laredo and Trenton all of his life and a veteran of World War II serving in the army. He was a farmer, worked for Modine and was a school bus driver for the Pleasant View R-6 school before his retirement.

He was a member of Liberty Chapel Christian Church in Farmersville.

He was married on March 14, 1948 at Trenton to Wilma Jean Burkert, who preceded him in death on Nov. 26, 1965.

Mr. Marrs is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Berry and her husband, Richard, of Chillicothe, snd Wilda Lewis and her husband, Lyle, of Rosendale; one son, Danny Marrs and his wife, Linda, of Laredo; three brothers, Max Marrs of Laredo, Jesse Marrs of Momence, IL and Jay Marrs of Trenton; four sisters, Lela Hughes of Hale, Daisey Landes of Kansas City, Erma Thomas of Kansas City and Louise Taylor of Trenton; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Roy Marrs; and six sisters, Irene Routh, Beatrice Carr, Gladys Bernadine Hurt, Ruth Marrs, Mary Marrs and Frances Garrison.

The family suggests memorials to the Hill Cemetery. They can be left at the funeral home.
