Bertha Lillie Skipper, an 81-year-old resident of Chillicothe, died at her home on Friday, Sept. 5, 2003.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003 at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church at Chillicothe. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at Chillicothe.

A family visitation will be held from 7 to 9 o?clock tonight (Monday, Sept. 8, 2003) at the Norman-Wagy-Gordon Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Friends may also call at the funeral home from 8 to 9 o?clock tonight.

Mrs. Skipper was born on July 28, 1922 at Gallatin, the daughter of George and Grace Hager Whitt. She graduated from Lock Springs High School in 1940 and graduated from Kirksville Teachers College in 1942. She was a nurse?s aide and a school teacher at Pinkley and Gordanville schools.

She was married on Oct. 27, 1945 at Washington, KS, to Charles E. Skipper, who preceded her in death in 1978.

Mrs. Skipper moved from Arapahoe, CO to Chillicothe in 1964. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church at Chillicothe.

She is survived by four sons, Wayne Skipper and his wife, Pat, Gary Skipper and his wife, Debbie, Darrell Skipper and his wife, Susan and Larry Skipper and his wife, Sondra, all of Chillicothe; one sister, Lennie Mae Stephens of Hale; 14 grandchildren, Kimberly Donoho, Robert Jr., Melinda and Elizabeth Skipper, Deanna Boyle, Brian Rice, Melissa Borgelt, Jason, Jackie and Justin Skipper, Laura and Ryan Skipper and Nathaniel and Tyler Skipper; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother; a second brother, Virgil Whitt; and a sister, Flossie Keeler.
