Funeral services for Wendell B. Fields will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003 at the Mt. Zion Christian Church, south of Humphreys. Pastor Mike Williams will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, with military graveside rites following.

An open visitation will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003 at the Payne Funeral Home in Galt. The family requests no flowers.
Mr. Fields, an 81-year-old resident of Humphreys, died on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003 at his residence.
Mr. Fields was born on June 29, 1922 at Browning, the son of Wayne B. and Grace E. Neet Fields. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a lifelong farmer in the Humphreys community. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Christian Church.
Mr. Fields was married to Dorris Daniels in 1942, then married Beverly Grice in 1961 and married Ethel Keith in 1978.
Survivors include a son, Hank Fields of Humphreys; four daughters, Brenda Combs of Overland Park, KS, Wenda Seymour of Trenton, Jeanie Whitney of Trenton and Linda Ann Bass of Lake Livingston, TX; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandsons.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, William B. Fields; one daughter, Tammy Fields; and one brother, Beverly Fields.
The family suggests donations be made to the Mt. Zion Christian Church or the Disabled American Veterans.
