The Rissler Elementary School PTO held an organizational meeting Tuesday evening at the school, electing officers for the coming year, voting to help pay for an incentive trip and setting the date for the annual chili supper.
E?Lisha Gass was elected president of the organization, with Melissa Purkapile serving as immediate past president. Other officers include Wendy Shuler, vice president; Ronda Lickteig, secretary; Tricia Lenhart, treasurer and book fair chairman; Robin Wilson and Mary Woodson, chili supper chairpersons; and Lisa Fuller and Tracy Utley, spring activity chairpersons.
The group voted to purchase a storage system for the Ellison machine cutting dies and to pay for the bus and driver to take qualifying fourth grade students to the literature festival in Warrensburg. The group discussed the volunteer program which is being implemented at the school and set the date for the annual chili supper as Friday, Nov. 14. It was also noted that the school will now be collecting books and magazines to be used by the teachers in their classroom. These may be left at the school.
The next PTO meeting is scheduled for Oct. 7 in the school library. All parents of Rissler students are encouraged to attend.
