The Spickard R-2 Board of Education approved its levy as well as the school audit during a meeting on Wednesday night.
Principal Ruth Ann Shipps said the levy for the district will be $4.3658 on the $100 assessed valuation, subject to final adjustment of the county assessed valuation by the assessor. The levy is slightly higher than a year ago, however, Ms. Shipps noted the increase was the result of the need to increase the debt service portion of the tax to cover the district bond payments. The incidental fund portion of the tax, she said, is actually less that last year. The 2003 tax is projected to generate just over $147,000.
The board approved the 2002-2003 school audit as well as the milk bid from Anderson-Erickson. The board also gave approval for the school sound system to be used during the fall festival and heard a report on first-day enrollment. An executive session was held for personnel and student matters, with no announcement made.
The next regular meeting of the board will be Wednesday, Sept. 24.
