Hilda Virginia Hessenflow, 79, of Eudora, KS, formerly of Independence MO, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003 in a nursing home in Edwardsville, KS. Her family was present at her side. Cause of death was congestive heart failure due to emphysema.

Hilda Virginia Hessenflow, 79, of Eudora, KS, formerly of Independence MO, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003 in a nursing home in Edwardsville, KS. Her family was present at her side. Cause of death was congestive heart failure due to emphysema.

Born Dec. 18, 1923 in Knoxville, TN, she moved to the Kansas City area in 1950. She was a loving and devoted Godly mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, a friend to many and a Scout den mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Hessenflow, in August 1983, and an infant daughter, Virginia Louise, in April 1954.

Survivors include two sons, Paul E. Hessenflow of the home and Donald L. Hessenflow and his wife, Lennie, of Independence; two granddaughters, Alicia Fae Hessenflow of Independence and Stacia Marie Hessenflow of Kansas City; and a great-granddaughter whom she loved very much, Kristina Marie Hessenflow of Independence.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003 at the Salem Cemetery, southwest of Galt, under the direction of the Payne Funeral Home of Galt. There is no visitation scheduled. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to the Northland Hospice.
