Duane Rynell, a 69-year-old resident of Burlington, IA, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003 at his home.
Rynell was born May 30, 1934 in Alma, the son of Conrad and Agnes Erickson Rynell. He was a graduate of Trenton High School and the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He served as Des Moines County Assessor for 33 years, retiring in 1998.
Mr. Rynell was a member of Elks Club Lodge No. 84, Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie No. 150, Des Moines County Conservation, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7641 in New London. He was an avid sportsman.
He was also a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church. He was a champion corn grower in Missouri in 1951 and 1952.
Mr. Rynell is survived by two daughters, Lesley Rynell Vlaanderen of Sioux City, IA and Jacqueline Anne Saunders of Waconia, MN; three granddaughters; and one sister, June Pickett of Trenton.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
