Robert D. “Bob” Griffin, a 57-year-old rural Jameson resident, died Sunday afternoon, Aug. 24, 2003 at his home after suffering an apparent heart attack.

Robert D. “Bob” Griffin, a 57-year-old rural Jameson resident, died Sunday afternoon, Aug. 24, 2003 at his home after suffering an apparent heart attack.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003 at the Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton. Burial will be in the Old Scotland Cemetery near Jameson following military graveside rites.

A scheduled family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003 at the mortuary.

Mr. Griffin was born on Nov. 21, 1945 at Trenton, the son of Owen Dale and Irma Mildred Dixson Griffin. He was raised near Gilman City and graduated from Gilman City High School in 1963. He joined the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. After his discharge he returned home.

On Jan. 17, 1969 he was married at Jamesport to Marlene Clark. They lived all but one year on a farm near Jameson, where they raised cattle and horses and enjoyed showing. His enjoyment was his son and daughters, especially his grandsons. He loved going to rodeos with his son and visiting with friends.

Mr. Griffin retired in 2001 from Trenton Foods after 37 years as a forklift operator and lead man. He was a member of the Old Scotland Church, the Disabled American Veterans and the Jamesport Saddle Club.

Mr. Griffin is survived by his wife, Marlene Griffin of the home; a son, Brock Griffin of the home; two daughters, Becky, now Mrs. Quentin Albrecht of Trenton and Bobbie, now Mrs. Jeff Ward of Gilman City; his mother, Irma Griffin of Jamesport; a brother, J.W. Griffin of Coffey; and five grandchildren, Mason and Miles Ward and Gannon, Gavin and Gage Albrecht.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1984.
