Jerry Francis McCracken, a 66-year-old resident of 426 W. 10th St. in Trenton, died at 1:20 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2003 at his home.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 28, 2003 at the First Christian Church in Trenton. Rev. Daryl Mayfield officiated.
Marilyn Robbins was the organist. Singers were Mary Holt and Sonna Wiggins. Music included “His Eye is on the Sparrow”, “How Great Thou Art” and “Go Rest High on That Mountain.”
Pallbearers were Chris Gott, Danny Gott, Bob McCracken, Curtis Provance, David Burkeybile and Dick Davis.
Honorary pallbearers were Russell Joiner, Fredrick Bosley, Franklin Bosley, Richard McKeehan, Charles Gott, Alfred Rowoth, David Mlika and Todd Chumbley.
Burial was in the Resthaven Gardens, north of Trenton.
Mr. McCracken was born in Trenton on Jan. 27, 1937, the son of George F. and Lelia Burk McCracken. He was raised in Trenton and graduated from Trenton High School and Trenton Junior College. He was married on Dec. 31, 1955 to Donna Lou Faller at Trenton. They lived all their married lives in Trenton.
Mr. McCracken was employed for 30 years by the Rock Island Railroad, retiring as a conductor. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Trenton Elks Lodge No. 801 and the United Transportation Union.
Mr. McCracken is survived by his wife, Donna Lou McCracken, of the home at Trenton; a daughter, Jerry, now Mrs. Andy Rowland, of Hannibal; two sisters, Patsy Hill of Trenton and Barbara Rowlen of Anderson, IN; and three granddaughters, Ashley, Allyson and Alyssa Rowland.
Mr. McCracken was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church in Trenton. They may be left at Resthaven Mortuary or at the church.
