Trenton R-9 Board OKs Bids For Commons Air Conditioning
The Trenton R-9 Board of Education approved a bid to air condition the Trenton High School commons during a special meeting Wednesday night.
Griggs Heating and Cooling of Gallatin submitted the only bid and will provide two 10-ton roof units at a cost of $32,250. The bid includes preparation work that will need to be done before the units can be put in place. It was noted that just over $15,000 in donations has been received through the Foundation Trust for THS for the project and that the remainder of the money would come from the district’s capital projects fund, which can only be used for capital improvement projects and not for general operating expenses. It is hoped that additional donations can be received, thus decreasing the amount of capital projects money that will have to be used. Director of Supportive Services George Moore said it is hoped the work can be completed by the start of school on Aug. 19, but the board indicated if that deadline could not be met it would like to see the units installed by Aug. 29, which is the beginning of the THS Alumni Weekend activities.
The board authorized local officers for the Missouri School Investment Program, who include Noah, Board President Dr. John Holcomb, Board Treasurer Cathy McKay and financial secretary Mary Ritko.
During the executive session, the board accepted the resignation of Kim Brundage as Title I paraprofessional at Rissler Elementary School; employed Kim Tate as the Parents as Teachers coordinator; employed Barb Spencer as high school flags coach; and set a closed special meeting for 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31 for personnel.
