C.W. Douglas, a 78-year-old resident of Trenton, died at 11:58 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2003 at Saint Luke?s Hospital in Smithville.

C.W. Douglas, a 78-year-old resident of Trenton, died at 11:58 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2003 at Saint Luke?s Hospital in Smithville.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2003 at the Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton. Rev. Ron Ratliff and Rev. Bill Stanturf will officiate. Burial will be in the Rural Dale Cemetery, east of Trenton.

A visitation is scheduled for 7 to 8 o?clock tonight (Monday, July 7, 2003) at the mortuary.

Mr. Douglas was born on Dec. 25, 1924 to Clyde Wilson and Mary Loretta Ross Douglas. He grew up in the Rural Dale area and attended the Rural Dale School.

He was married at his parents home on Sept. 17, 1944 to Linda Marie Gott. After spending a couple of years in California, the couple moved to Laredo, where they resided for 25 years. Mr. Douglas worked for John Rensch Lumber and Gas Company for five years before purchasing it. The company was renamed the Douglas Service Station, which remained in business for 13 years. He also sold real estate with his wife and had spent 28 years as a security officer for the Modine Manufacturing Company.

Survivors include his wife, Linda, of the home; two sons, Charles Wayne Douglas of Columbia and Larry Loren Douglas of the state of Washington; a daughter, Glenda Kay Scott and her husband, Robert, of Ravenwood; seven grandchildren, Charles (Chuck) Harding Scott, Linda Kay Brown, Natisha Dawn Scott, Trent Robert Scott, Jefferey Loren Douglas, Jeremy Laine Douglas and Danielle Douglas; three great-grandchildren, Jordan Tyler Scott, Courtney Jean Brown and Brittany Noel Douglas; a nephew, Bob Foster; and a niece, Barbara Gomez.

Mr. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dorothy Foster; and twin sons, Darrell Eugene and Donald Dean Douglas.
