Mabel Raney, an 84-year-old resident of Davenport, IA and former Humphreys and Milan resident, died Sunday afternoon, June 29, 2003 at the Meadow Lawn Nursing Home in Davenport.

Mabel Raney, an 84-year-old resident of Davenport, IA and former Humphreys and Milan resident, died Sunday afternoon, June 29, 2003 at the Meadow Lawn Nursing Home in Davenport.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2003 at the Payne Funeral Home in Galt. Burial will be in the Humphreys Cemetery.
A family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Raney was born on Dec. 15, 1918 at Ocanto, NE to Merle G. and Margaret Schiling Compau. She was married on July 1, 1939 at Gulfport, MS to Ivan H. Raney, who preceded her in death on Nov. 14, 1998. The couple lived most of their married lives in the Humphreys and Milan area until they moved to Davenport to be near their daughter.
Mrs. Raney was employed as a nurse at the Sullivan County Hospital in Milan for 25 years before she retired.
Mrs. Raney is survived by a daughter, Margaret McCabe of Davenport; two sons, Ed Raney of Rolla and Jim Raney of Cerritos, CA; one sister, Edith Flynn of New York City, NY; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
