Harold L. Swan, an 87-year-old resident of Newtown, died on Thursday, June 26, 2003 at the University of Missouri Medical Center in Columbia.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at the Ravanna United Methodist Church. Rev. Robert Burkeybile will officiate. Burial will be in the Ravanna Cemetery.

Open visitation and viewing is under way at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Service at Princeton. A family visitation will be held at the funeral home from 7 to 8 o?clock tonight (June 30, 2003).

Mr. Swan was born in Mercer County on March 17, 1916, the son of James William and Estella Wyatt Swan. He was a lifelong Mercer County resident and farmer in the Newtown community. He was a 1935 graduate of Newtown High School and a member of the Ravanna Methodist church.

Mr. Swan was married Sept. 26, 1935 to Maxine Bowers, who survives of the home near Newtown.

Also surviving are a daughter, Patricia Johnson and her husband Earnest, of Pasadena, MD; two granddaughters, Gina Baker of Pasadena and Teri McKenney of Newark, MD; five grandchildren, Erin and Kristen Baker and Haley, Graca and Dylan McKenney; and other friends and relatives.

Mr. Swan was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister and an infant brother.
