The Finance Committee of the Trenton City Council will recommend to the council that funding for two projects be approved.

The committee, meeting Monday, agreed to accept the Park Board’s offer of sharing expenses on stormwater work that will need to be done in the Moberly Park area while the new aquatic center is being built. City Clerk Cindy Simpson said the committee agreed to accept an offer from the park board to share the costs 50-50, with the two groups to work out details and determine later from where the city’s part of the funding will come. It was indicated at last week’s Administrative Committee meeting that fund balances could be used.

The committee is recommending that fund balances be used to pay $45,000 of the city’s costs associated with the Community Development Block Grant neighborhood rehabilitation project. Mrs. Simpson noted that $65,000 had been estimated as the city’s cost for the project and that $20,000 had been expended in this year’s budget. Rather than spread the remaining costs over other budget periods, the committee agreed to amend the current budget and pay the remaining costs from the city’s fund balance.

Both recommendations will need final approval by the city council, which meets again on Monday, July 14.
