Thelma D. Stechmann, a 93-year-old resident of Kansas City, died Tuesday, June 23, 2003 at the Alpine North Care Center in Riverside. She was the sister of Geneva New and Betty Youtsey, both of Gallatin.

Thelma D. Stechmann, a 93-year-old resident of Kansas City, died Tuesday, June 23, 2003 at the Alpine North Care Center in Riverside. She was the sister of Geneva New and Betty Youtsey, both of Gallatin.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2003 at the D.W. Newcomer?s White Chapel in Gladstone. Burial will be in the White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Stechmann was born on April 21, 1910 in Saline City, the daughter of Samuel and Ennis Neff Davis. She worked for over 30 years in the garment industry as a seamstress and also worked for Rice Sticks Garment in Slater and later for Nelly Don in Kansas City. She was the proud producer of thousands of lap quilts over the last 18 years for the VFW and was a member of VFW Post 5675 Ladies Auxiliary in Odessa. She was an avid follower of the Kansas City Royals and loved to watch television.
Besides her sisters, Mrs. Stechmann is survived by one son, William Herman Stechmann of Kansas City; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Donald Lee Stechmann; and one daughter, Betty Jean Archer.
